Assessment of diastolic dysfunction in the transplanted heart with analysis of pixel-based deformation fields on CMR

چکیده
Background Diastolic dysfunction is often used as a marker for allograft rejection and may even precede systolic abnormalities. However, diastolic indices provided by echocardiography can be of inconsistent quality with low sensitivities. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with high temporal resolution cine imaging offers an alternate noninvasive method for evaluating ventricular function. The purpose of this study is to describe CMR LV diastology indices in a cohort of heart transplant patients, comparing CMR results to echocardiography.

Automated quantitative assessment of cardiovascular magnetic resonance-derived atrioventricular junction velocities.
The assessment of atrioventricular junction (AVJ) deformation plays an important role in evaluating left ventricular systolic and diastolic function in clinical practice. This study aims to demonstrate the effectiveness and consistency of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) for quantitative assessment of AVJ velocity compared with tissue Doppler echocardiography (TDE). A group of 145 human ...
متن کاملThe Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملCMR for Assessment of Diastolic Function
Prevalence of heart failure with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction amounts to 50% of all cases with heart failure. Diagnosis assessment requires evidence of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. Currently, echocardiography is the method of choice for diastolic function testing in clinical practice. Various applications are in use and recommended criteria are followed for classifyin...
متن کاملVorticity for the assessment of right ventricular diastolic dysfunction using 4D flow CMR
Background 4D flow CMR analysis of right ventricular (RV) diastolic inflow has demonstrated vortical formations at tips of the tricuspid valve during the deceleration phase of early filling (E wave) (Figure 1). Vorticity can measure the rotation of these vortices and may represent a novel way to assess RV diastolic function. We aimed to determine if right heart vorticity identified right ventri...
متن کاملAutomated segmentation of routine clinical cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for assessment of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction.
BACKGROUND Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is established for assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic function but has not been widely used to assess diastolic function. This study tested performance of a novel CMR segmentation algorithm (LV-METRIC) for automated assessment of diastolic function. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 101 patients with normal LV systolic function underwent CMR ...
